The Jets (3-7) are preparing to face the Indianapolis Colts (4-6) this week. In doing so, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich revealed some of the plans he has for practice. The Jets will be working out in full pads and will get some pointers on how to successfully tackle opponents.

Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich is trying to tackle the team’s biggest defensive issue — tackling. Ulbrich saw his team miss 20 tackles in Sunday’s 31-6 loss to the Cardinals. He is trying to get things fixed with some changes in practice this week.

In the wake of their 20 missed tackle performance against the Cardinals, the Jets are returning to basics this week ahead of their game against the Colts.

“Defensively, the story was tackling, 100 percent,” Ulbrich said. “An egregious, criminal amount, of missed tackles.” From a player perspective, linebacker Jamien Sherwood provided the context. While the Jets have only won one game since Ulbrich took over as interim head coach, Sherwood is not pointing fingers.
