Dallas residents will have a lower tax rate and higher utility fees after the City Council approved the largest budget in the city’s history on Wednesday. The unanimously approved $4.97 billion spending plan goes into effect Oct.

The Dallas City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to approve the fiscal year 2024-2025 city budget, which reflected the city’s top priorities for next year. The city included focus on public works and public safety as matters of importance.

The Highland Village City Council unanimously approved the city’s fiscal year 2024-25 budget during a special meeting Sept. 17.
