Organisers say Thursday's matches at the Billie Jean King Cup will go ahead after a severe weather alert in Malaga led to the opening tie between Spain and Poland being postponed.

The Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Malaga which were due to begin on Wednesday were postponed after Spanish authorities issued a red weather alert for extreme rain and flooding in parts of the country,

Ashlyn Krueger and Taylor Townsend saved six match points but ultimately lost the decisive doubles match as the United States was defeated 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 by Slovakia and was eliminated 2-1 in the first round of the Billie Jean King Cup Finals early Friday.
